Lily Zink participated on the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) for three years from 2020-2023 and served on the executive team her last two years. She has stayed active with the Community Foundation by volunteering at the mosaic photo wall during the 80th anniversary celebration in May and led facilitation training for the current YAC executive team this past August.
In addition to still volunteering with the Community Foundation, Lily is also finishing up her third year as a member of the Council on Michigan Foundation’s Michigan Community Foundation’s Youth Project (MCFYP). Made up of YACers and YAC alumni from around the state, MCFYP leads the development, design and facilitation of youth programming at CMF, including the annual Youth Grantmakers Summer Leadership Conference.
“MCFYP is an incredible way to continue your journey in philanthropy after high school, but on a larger scale!” she said. “You have the opportunity to meet others throughout the entire state as well as make connections with those on CMF staff!”
An alumnus of Yale High School, Lily is currently a sophomore majoring in Human Biology through Lyman Briggs College at Michigan State University with a minor in Health Promotions on the pre-med track.
Aside from MCFYP, she is involved in the Osteopathic Medical Scholars Program through MSU’s Medical School, acts as a Briggs Ambassador and volunteers for Down to Dance, which uses dance to improve the cognitive functioning, motor skills and social inclusivity of children with down syndrome. She is also a member of the MSU powerlifting club, Pre-Street Medicine and Pre-SOMA.
She works at Lyman Briggs in the Student Success and Advising Office and at Origami Rehabilitation.
