The Algonac/Clay Community Fund was established by local residents to be a source of funding for programs, projects and organizations in the Algonac and Clay communities. The fund was established in 2004 and began making grants in 2006. Since that time the Fund has awarded over 130 grants totaling more than $130,000!
Some of their most recent grants included:
- Algonac Firefighters Association – community safety materials
- No Limits Fishing Adventures – adaptive fishing adventures
- Girl Scout Troop 76974 – tables for Little League
- First Evangelical Lutheran Church – community supper
- Pearl Beach Lions Charities – kitchen remodel
- Our Lady on the River Parish – human trafficking awareness
In addition to individual donations received throughout the year, the Algonac/Clay Community Fund holds an annual Cinco de Mayo fundraising event the first Friday of May.
Grants may be applied for until April 1. The grant must benefit organizations directly in Algonac or Clay Township. The 2024 grants will be awarded in May at the annual Cinco de Mayo dinner.
Applications are available at Northstar Bank, located at 900 Pointe Tremble Road in Algonac. For more information, email Grant Giving Committee Chairwoman Denice Gerstenberg at [email protected]
