Complete Your Degree program graduate Cecelia Shuler is so thankful for the support she received while earning her degree that she was inspired to give back. This August Shuler held a raffle, which raised $365 for the Complete Your Degree Endowment Fund.
“It brings me such joy to give back after receiving so much support with finishing my degree,” Shuler said.
Shuler graduated on May 3 with an associate in therapeutic massage from St. Clair County Community College.
She joined the CYD program for the winter 2019 semester after a car accident left her with limited resources to return to school while also still paying rent and other bills.
“I applied for this program in hopes of getting that extra ‘boost’ to help guide me towards the finish line of my degree,” Shuler said. “I am the first person in my family household to obtain a college degree, and will use it to further my credentials and career as a licensed massage therapist.”
While at SC4, she completed five classes remaining for her degree program, mainly with a business focus, which help with her profession. Shuler is a licensed independent therapist and runs her own business.
Shuler used her skills as a massage therapist by raffling off her services. She donated 100 percent of the proceeds on Sept. 4, which have been added to the Complete Your Degree Endowment Fund.
This fund provides support for residents of St. Clair County seeking to advance their post-secondary education and training, including support for life needs so that barriers are removed to ensure completion of a college degree.
