Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School recently received a gift in memory of Albert Schaller from the Schaller Family, creating the Albert Schaller Memorial Scholarship to benefit students and honor Albert’s life work. The school immediately looked to leverage the impact of the gift through its endowment fund with the Community Foundation of St. Clair County.
“Albert Schaller was a supporter of Catholic education who was dedicated to his community and faith as well. We are honored that his family chose to make a major gift to our school in his memory so that generations of students to come will have the option to attend because of the family’s generosity,” said Cardinal Mooney Principal David Evans.
Donors want to know that their gift makes the most impact possible and Cardinal Mooney ensures that by using the school’s endowed fund with the Community Foundation, established in 2013. The Schaller family’s donation will be combined with gifts from like-minded donors which will grow over time while providing funding stability and an income stream for the school and the Albert Schaller Memorial scholarships. For Cardinal Mooney donors it’s an opportunity to truly invest in the school for current and future generations of students.
Albert Schaller was born in 1937 and passed away last year, survived by his loving wife of 57 years and their children. He was one of the founders of Schaller Corporation and held the position of president for 25 years. Albert led a full and fruitful life making an impact on countless others. He was deeply committed to his family and was devoted to Jesus. His passion and dedication to the Catholic faith will be memorialized through this scholarship.
“This gift continues Albert’s legacy of generosity and making an impact on the lives of those around him,” said the Schaller family.
The Albert Schaller Memorial Scholarship will award four scholarships of $1,000 each to one student per class at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School. The Schaller scholarship will follow the students for all four years they are in good standing at the school.
“We hope this scholarship will make Catholic education a choice for families who may not otherwise be able to afford it,” Evans said.
