For a century, the city of Marysville has relied on its residents and the support of the region to make big things happen, supporting local projects, bolster the schools and bring the dreams of generations past and present to fruition.
“Hometown pride is strong in Marysville and our community is stepping up to support the Marysville Community Fund in honor of this milestone anniversary,” said Nick Beaudry, the Chair of the Marysville Community Fund.
Started in 2015, the Marysville Community Fund is a way for residents who want to give back, to keep it local, to support the hometown they love. It’s a permanently endowed fund for the residents of Marysville and supports special projects, programs and organizations in Marysville.
“The first major gift in celebration of the centennial was an anonymous Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund (DAF) gift of just over $13,000. This really set the momentum going, and over $80,000 has been donated so far to the community fund. We’re so close to our goal of $100,000 raised by the May 10, 2024 centennial celebration,” said Beaudry.
The DAF gift embodies the notion that it is in giving that we receive, and in supporting one another that we truly thrive. That’s what the Marysville Community Fund aims to do, support a thriving community.
A committee of local residents decides on the best charitable uses for the Marysville Community Fund. Marysville based or Marysville serving organizations are encouraged to apply for a grant.
The community fund often collaborates with other stakeholders to maximize its impact in the community. In 2021, the Marysville Band received nearly $15,000 of support from the Marysville Community Fund which included a small portion alongside the Blue Water Arts Committee and Youth Advisory Council. In 2022, the community fund granted $23,000 to 12 organizations at halftime of a Marysville High School home football game. The Community Fund has also worked with the Marysville Rotary Club to help fund projects or share community opportunities.
The Marysville Community Fund is more than just a collection of dollars and cents. It represents the city’s strength, kindness, and commitment to progress. An opportunity for residents to invest in their future and help the community thrive.
Marysville is one of four community funds under the philanthropic umbrella of the Community Foundation. They join the Algonac-Clay Community Fund, the Citizens for St. Clair Fund and the Port Huron Community Fund. Learn more about our community funds here or support the Marysville Community Fund here.
