Charitable Giving from your IRA- Lunch & Learn
If you are over the age of 70 ½, you could save a significant amount of income taxes by making a gift to charity directly from your IRA. Recent changes to the tax law make it more likely that you will benefit from using your IRA to make a charitable gift.
Particularly valuable to you if:
• You don’t itemize deductions and thus don’t benefit from charitable deductions
• You usually itemize but would save more in taxes by claiming the standard deduction and doing QCDs instead of other charitable gifts.
• Additional income would increase your Medicare premium.
• Your Social Security benefits are taxed but at less than the 85% maximum
• You have other charitable gifts in excess of deduction limitations.
