This fund helps support the growth and operation of the Historical Society’s museums. The Algonac-Clay Township Historical Society was formed in 1992 by combining the former Algonac Boating and Historical group and the Clay Township Historical Society. It is a volunteer based non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the community and maritime history of the area, share historical stories at special events, and to provide educational opportunities for all segments of the communities. The Society also supports research requests regarding the community and its maritime heritage. It also acts as a hospitality port for visiting tall ships, boat clubs, and supports the ship cam for city of Algonac.
Mission Statement: To preserve and promote the community and maritime history of the Algonac-Clay Township area.
Goal of the Organization: To preserve historical artifacts and lore of the local area both oral and documented; to provide information about local history; to maintain adequate record keeping procedures; to continue historic research of community, maritime, and boat building history along the St. Clair River and Anchor Bay.
