We’re happy for the next chapter of Karen’s life. We wish her well and thank her for the last 30 years. As she moves forward, she wanted to share this letter with all of you.
To the Community Foundation’s donors, volunteers and partners:
After 30 years, I have made the difficult decision to leave the Community Foundation. I’ve seen and facilitated many changes as the organization has evolved from a traditional community foundation with $2 million in assets into a complex and proactive organization with over $100 million in assets, which now includes three supporting organizations and a for-profit LLC.
As the Foundation’s bold collaborations and new programs have grown, the accounting complexities and demands of managing both existing and new initiatives have also increased. Family, friends, co-workers, and Board/Committee members are aware of how much time and effort I have always dedicated to my responsibilities, which has not always allowed for the best work-life balance.
While I enjoy challenges and have loved being part of this organization and the impact it’s had on our community, it’s time for a change as I enter the final leg of my career and embrace my upcoming role as a first-time Grandma!
While my next career move is not yet determined, I am optimistic about the opportunities to continue adding value to an organization in a less demanding and leading role. I look forward to exploring ways to share my knowledge and extensive experience in accounting and philanthropy. I am proud of the work and contributions I have made during my 30 year career with the Community Foundation. The Foundation and the impact we’ve had in the community will always be near and dear to my heart.
Thank you for your dedication to this community and for your support of the Community Foundation.
Karen Lee, Director of Finance
