The Algonac/Clay Community Fund was established by local residents to be a source of funding for programs, projects and organizations in the Algonac and Clay communities. The fund was established in 2004 and began making grants in 2006. Since that time the Fund has awarded over 151 grants totaling more than $152,950!
Some of their most recent grants included:
- Algonac Church of Christ – Care Bag Movement – Sew-A-Thon materials
- Algonac Community Schools – Robotics Club and weight room equipment
- Algonac-Clay Township Historical Society – Michigan native flower garden
- First Evangelical Lutheran Church – Pantry shelving, stove Igniter and racks for clothing bank
- Harsens Island St. Clair Flats Association – Browne’s Field Pavilion bird protection system
- No Limits Fishing Adventures – Boat therapy for people with disabilities
- Pearl Beach Lions Charities – Community holiday events
- Our Lady on the River Parish – human trafficking awareness
In addition to individual donations received throughout the year, the Algonac/Clay Community Fund holds an annual Cinco de Mayo fundraising event the first Friday of May.
Grants may be applied for until April 1. The grant must benefit organizations directly in Algonac or Clay Township. The 2026 grants will be awarded in May at the annual Cinco de Mayo dinner.
