A fun evening was had by all at our 2020 Women Who Care Team UP event. Women’s Initiative members and friends gathered in small groups to virtually grant $10,000 for local nonprofits. It was an evening of interactive missions and lots of laughs. In a time where large gatherings cannot happen… more than 100 women still found a way to “gather” virtually to give.
$1,250 grant winners:
- Mid City Nutrition
- Enter Stage Right at The Citadel Stage
- Council on Aging Inc serving St Clair County
- Riverbank Youth Theatre
- Friends of the St. Clair River
- Goodwill Industries of St. Clair County
Then five bonus grants of $500 were given by our top 5 teams:

- Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer
- St. Clair County Child Abuse/Neglect Council
- Julie’s Kids inc.
- Bridge Builders Counseling & Mentoring, Inc.
- Hunter Hospitality House

A founding member of the Women’s Initiative, Joann Ploeger, drew the winning nonprofit names for the evening. The original momentum for the Women’s Initiative came from powerful, caring and like-minded women gathered in Joann’s living room. We’re so glad that at 91 years young she still wants to be involved!
