The Community Foundation and its Community Capital Club (C3) group are hosting the 2025 “100 Men” event on September 4th. The event goal is to have at least 100 men attend at a cost of $100 each and then give away $10,000 that evening to a local nonprofit program, project or organization.

“We’ve been occasionally hosting these events off and on since 2013” said C3 Chairman and Community Foundation board member Harold Burns. “Our goal is to help get more local men involved in philanthropy and increase visibility for some of our local nonprofit programs, projects and organizations.”
The 2025 event will be hosted on the south side of Port Huron at the site of one of the largest mixed-used waterfront developments on this side of Michigan. It’s a large former warehouse building, long neglected, that is now being redeveloped into a 16,000 square foot event, dining and mixed-use building. The 100 men event is the first chance for a semi-public sneak peek at the project.
Randy Maiers is the President & CEO of the Community Foundation. “The Walker project on the south side of Port Huron is one of the largest waterfront developments anywhere along this side of Michigan’s Thumb Coast,” he said. “When combined with other ongoing and planned developments in these surrounding neighborhoods, it has the potential to dramatically change the economic future of the south side of Port Huron.”
The event format is pretty simple – each guy pays $100 to attend which goes into a pot to be given away that evening. Each guy then has the chance to nominate their favorite local program, project or organization to be one of 3 cash winners that evening. Then, three guys get chosen at random to make a pitch for their favorite cause. After the pitches, the attendees vote to decide which projects win the prizes of; $5,000 for 1st, $3,000 for 2nd and $2,000 for 3rd. Any excess funds go into the C3 Fund which makes local investments in community development projects.
Food and entertainment are all included thanks to significant financial support from the presenting sponsors:
- UHY
- Eastern Michigan Bank
- Xtreme Power & Wadhams Equipment
- Otsi Keta Capital
“Our presenting sponsors make the event work so that we’re sure to give away $10,000 that evening,” added Burns. “We fortunate to have such a generous local corporate community.”
